Karen Severson was born in Victoria, British Columbia, grew up there, on Vancouver Island and Vancouver. She studied art at the Universities of British Columbia and Victoria, receiving a B.F.A. (honours) in 1981. She presently resides at Cobble Hill, Vancouver Island.
