Judi Pedder

Judi began her formal art training with a scholarship to the Ipswich School of Art, England, studying a diverse range of subjects. She moved to Canada in 1966 where family and employment took precedence over pure art pursuits until Judi made time to re-visit her admiration of watercolours. Studying with several accomplished instructors helped develop her work which has been exhibited since 1989 and hangs in Johannesburg, Chicago, Budapest, Calgary, Albuquerque & many USA, Ontario & BC cities.

On May 1, 2006 Judi arrived in Comox where she set up a gallery/studio for the dual purposes of painting and conducting classes or workshops. Her list of solo, juried and group exhibitions is long, and can be viewed on her web site www.judipedder.com Her accomplishments include awards, requests for workshops and recognition for her work on Masa Paper. In more than 20 years Judi has never seen a book, video or workshop describing this technique so she decided to fill the gap by having a DVD produced, showing many examples and step-by -step instruction.

Judi Pedder's work in watercolour spans a variety of 'supports' and indicates her love of this versatile medium. Her gallery/studio and shows have examples of her work on traditional papers using a variety of approcahes, images on Yupo, directly on canvas and many on Masa Paper, either supported by watercolour paper or by framed canvas. No other medium can produce the glow and transparency of watercolours - all you need is practice!
